19th ANNUAL STATEN ISLAND TUNA CLUB SHARK TOURNAMENT

1.   The Staten Island Tuna Club Shark Tournament is presented by the Staten Island Tuna Club and its sponsors

2.   The Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008 with a weather day of Sunday, July 13, 2008.

3.   No boats are allowed to clear the Chapel Hill / Raritan Reach Cross Channel Buoy before 5 a.m. Saturday. An AM and PM Committee Boat(s)    
will be standing by just west of the Chapel Hill / Raritan Reach Cross Channel Buoy.
 Captains must Radio the Committee Boat when visually passing 
at 5am and returning at 7pm. If leaving after 5:30am Captains must notify Michael's Bait and Tackle 1-718-984-9733.
 

4.   All boats must arrive and report to PM Committee Boat(s) by 7 p.m. of tournament day.  The AM Committee Boat(s) must return by 7:30 p.m.

5.   Any boat 23 feet or over is eligible to enter the Tournament.

6.   Fishing will be on the scheduled day unless canceled or rescheduled by the committee.

7.   Entry fee will be $300 per boat.

8.   In the event of bad weather and the Tournament is canceled or if no fish are caught, prize money will be raffled off in three equal amounts.

9.   Prizes for the three largest sharks will be awarded in the following manner. 1st place guaranteed $10,000, 2nd & 3rd place will be determined by # of entries.

10. In the event only one eligible fish is caught, it will be awarded the total prize money.  If only two eligible fish are caught 3rd place money will be split.

11. VHF Channel 72 will be official Tournament channel

12. Minimum weight is 125 pounds.

13. Every attempt must be made to contact a committee boat to report all fish landed and approximate weight.

14. All fish must be weighed in by the weigh-master in Staten Island by 8 p.m. Saturday. Any fish checked in after 8 p.m. will be ineligible. No mutilated fish  are eligible.  
All prize wining fish must be presented at the Staten Island Weigh-in Station to qualify for prizes. Blue sharks are ineligible for any prize.

15. In the event a boat which is towing a disabled boat has a qualifying fish, the committee must be notified within reasonable time prior to 8 p.m. Saturday and 
will be allowed to weigh in fish after 8 p.m. "Reasonable time" will be up to the discretion of the tournament committee. 
The disabled boat will not be allowed to weigh in after 8 p.m.

16. In the event of boat disability, prior to the start of the tournament, the tournament committee must be notified, and the contestants may transfer to another  
boat not in the tournament and fish in the name of the original. .

17. Boats will be issued and must visibly display a tournament boat number in the port side window.

18. Fishing is by rod and reel only. Tackle is unlimited as to test line, leader length, and double line. 
No hand lining or harpooning is allowed More than one angler may fight a fish.

19. Each boat must supply his own bait with no restrictions.

20. There are no fishing boundaries.

21. All anglers fishing in this tournament will do so at their own risk.

22. Committee boat for this tournament will be named at the captains meeting.

23. The captain or member of the crew of each boat entered must attend the captains meeting to be held on July 12, 2008, 
7pm at Michaels Bait & Tackle. 187 Mansion Ave., Staten Island, NY 10308, Great Kills Harbor, 1 (718) 984-9733. 

24. Prize monies will be distributed at Coles Dockside at 8pm on July 13, 2008 or rain date.

25. There must be a minimum of 25 boats in order to have the tournament.

26. No fish is to be disposed of in the harbor.

27. You must obtain a Certified Weigh in Receipt (as proof of catch) to claim any prize.

28. This tournament will abide by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Laws and National Marine Fisheries Regulations.  
All boats must have all required permits and documentation
.

29. Small craft warning at beginning of tournament automatically cancels tournament. All other decisions are at the discretion of the Tournament Committee
